FAQ:

Bonica 1080P HDDV

What is the recommended resolution of the video?

The recommended resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels at 60 frames per second. It will look great on most state-of-the-art television sets.

How to view video files (MOV format) on PC computers?

Go to Apple.com and download QuickTime.

How much recording time? What are the recommended SD cards?

The camera has an internal memory capable for 2 minutes of video, so external SDHC card is strongly recommended.

We suggest Kingston or San Disk brands SDHC cards, and we have tested up to 16 GB.

The recording time is about 60 min per 4GB in 1280 x 720 pixels at 60 frames per second setting.

The camera does not require specific SDHC cards, but higher speed class or cards catered for video can be helpful.

What is the noise during video playback? How can I prevent and remove it?

The noise is generated when the camera’s lens trying to fix the focus on the subject, or when zooming in and out.

To prevent this noise, you can activate the focus lock (by pressing the OK button on DV housing, or pressing down on the joystick on the camera). Once the lock is engaged, the focus is fixed at its current distance, and will not auto-focus into a new subject.

To remove this noise from the video, we recommend post video editing (software such as Muvee autoProducer 6) to replace the audio with music.

What is the recommended program for burning the High Definition video files?

Nero 8 Ultra Edition is an easy program to burn the HD videos into Blu-ray or HD DVD discs.

What battery does the remote control use?

Lithium Cell CR2025 (3V), a common watch battery available electronics stores.

Tips on Using the HDDV:

  •  Keep the Video Camera steady when capturing photo or video.
  • Utilize the Focus Lock to fix the focus into desire distance.
  • Install Wide Angle Lens and Filters (Watch video)Underwater  to eliminate air bubbles.
  • Keep the camera on for a few seconds after capturing a video. This allows the camera to finish writing the video file onto the SDHC card.

Tips on Product Care

  • Dip the Housing in fresh water after each dive to prevent salt crystal forming around the O-ring.
  • Before each dive, inspect the housing O-ring and remove any elements or particles caught on the O-ring.
  • O-ring does not need to be lubricated. DO NOT remove the O-ring from the housing.
  • Keep the Housing Button Cover on during travel so the housing buttons will not be pressed by accident.

Trouble Shooting:

When the HDDV is in the underwater housing, why does the buttons on the housing cannot operate the HDDV?

It can be caused by 1 of the 2 factors:

a) Springs on the buttons are new

b) Remote control, mounted at the back of the housing, has run out of battery.

c) Signal from the remote control, mounted at the back of the housing, cannot be transferred to the camera.

For a), please press the buttons a few more times with more force through the center of the button.

For b), please exchange the remote control that is mounted at the back of the housing with the extra remote control that is included in the Dive HDDV package, or replace the remote control battery (see how-to video here).

For c), please use the extra remote control to test the DV while it is not stored in the housing to ensure that the DV can receive the remote control’s signal.

What can I do if the camera has frozen up?

If the camera is not responding, remove the battery and insert it back again.

Why does the audio have a lack time during record and playback?

Please contact Bonica for the latest firmware to fix this issue.
